Mark Alan Mead, Horse Trainer of Rexford New York and resident of Longmont Colorado died Saturday December 2nd 2023 surrounded by his family and close friends. He was 67 years old. Born in Amsterdam NY on June 8th 1956, he was the son of the late Dr Warren W Mead and Phyllis Bahn Mead.
A longtime resident of Rexford, New York, Mark graduated from Niskayuna High School in 1974 and furthered his education at Sage College of Albany and SUNY at Cobleskill.
Mark had a compassion for all animals, especially for horses. In his younger years, he modeled and worked as a trainer and manager at his family’s estate, Riverwinds Farm, and showed and bred Morgan and Saddlebred horses on the National Circuit for many years. He was proud to be a participant in the 1981 Inaugural Parade for President Ronald Regan with his Saddlebred Tim Buk Tu. Later, he was a co-owner of Area Art Detailers Gallery and worked as a restaurant manager for The Desmond in Albany NY. Mark moved to Longmont Colorado in 2010 where he taught horseback riding lessons and worked as a hardware Sales Associate for Lowes.
Mark was a talented artist and had art on display in Bermuda and the US. He enjoyed gardening, orchids, and was a gourmet cook. His greatest joy was spending time with his best friend and partner Bob. They enjoyed Rockies baseball, pro football, automotive shows, cooking and visiting with family and friends.
Mark will be remembered as a dedicated partner, brother, uncle, instructor and friend to many, whom will miss him dearly.
Survivors include his siblings Roger Mead and Karen Mead; his niece and nephews: Ryan Pyle, Lauren Pyle, Ronald Mead (Misty), Julian Mead and his beloved partner and friend Bob McIntosh.
He was preceded by his siblings, David Jeffrey Mead, Sally Anne Mead and Nancy Susan Carlson.
