|Reva's journey in life started by being born in Oscoda, Michigan to Vern & Elsie Simons on November 11, 1914. Over the last 98 years and 4 months exactly Reva enjoyed her life. She grew up in Flint, Michigan with brother Clyde, sister Vivian who have both passed on. Her younger brother LeRoy (known as Lee) lives in Elmira, Michigan. Lee came to visit the spring of 2012 along with her nephew, Lee Jr. The visit was a very touching reunion. They had always had a very special relationship.
Reva also had another journey in her early years raising 3 children, Joe known as Sonny, Frank and Ann. She loved her children with all her heart. Joe and Pauline Maldaner raised three children, Jeffrey, Jon and Susan. Susan had visited Grandma Reva in Florida a few times and here in Colorado also along with her husband Troy. Susan was very special to Reva along with her Mom, Pauline. Jeff has 3 children, Jeffrey, Joshua and Ciera. Jon's boys are JW and Mitchell. Reva's son Frank has 2 daughters, Tamara and Nona. Frank has 4 granddaughters Chelsea, Kaitlyn, Erica and Nicole. He also has two great-granddaughters, Lydia and Hamilton. Frank has a very close knit family and loves all of his girls. Ann and Lee have two children, Tina andTodd. Tina's children are Tyler, Nick and Sidney. Todd's children are Josh, Jensen and Jack. Ann came to visit Reva awhile back and we all had a wonderful visit.
Reva married Irv Bickford in 1951. They moved from Flint, Michigan to North Miami, Fl. where Reva was a housewife and Irv worked at Westview Country Club in Miami. They enjoyed raising their son Ron and daughter Vivian. They enjoyed many trips to the Key West and also to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. As Vivian was growing up Reva worked at Christ Lutheran Church in the kindergarten sunday school class with the Pastor's wife, Bea Gysan. They become best of friends. In 1967 Irv and Reva joined Eastern Star. Irv joined the Masonic Masons and the Shiners' and Reva joined The Daughter of the Nile. They spent many of their days enjoying these organizations along with their church. Reva enjoyed entertaining their families and many friends. Irv's mother, Lena lived with the family for many years which was enjoyable to all.
In early 1970's they moved to Pembroke Pines, Fl until June of 1998 when Irv passed. Reva stayed in her home until 2004 when Reva moved to Longmont, Co to live with their daughter, Vivian and her husband Harry. She spent time with the granddaughter Jennifer in Fl. and Co. They had a very special relationship. One that meant a lot to both of them. Her last 8 years she enjoyed Colorado but always missed Florida.
We want to thank our families and many friends for all their support these last two years as Reva's health declined and in her last days. She now is with our Lord and her beloved husband, Irv.
